Directions unit: research into a director

Research into Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Tarantino is a American director most well known for films such as "Reservoir Dogs", "Kill Bill" and "Pulp Fiction".
During his time at video archives, he worked on multiple screenplays such as "True Romance" and "Natural Born Killers". During his time at Cinetel after leaving video archives his script for "True Romance" to director Tony Scott who brought the rights to it.
Working with producer Lawrence Bender, Tarantino was able to secure funding for his directorial debut, Reservoir Dogs (1992), for which he had also written the screenplay.
The independent film helped make Tarantino one of the most talked-about figures in Hollywood. While not a big hit in the United States, it became a popular title on video and did well in other countries.
"Pulp Fiction"
In pulp fiction ('94), Tarantino created an unpredictable thrill ride filled with violence and pop culture references. ((He links his films together through things like cigarette brands etc)) "Pulp Fiction" was both a commercial and critical success.
In the US it earned over $108 million at the box office, becoming the first independent film to do so. It won the prestigious Palme d'Or Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 1994 and received seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director.
"Kill Bill"
The idea for Kill Bill was formed by Tarantino and Uma Thurman in a bar during the filming of Pulp Fiction
Tarantino originally wanted Warren Beatty for the titular "Bill," but he moved on to David Carradine from the television series Kung Fu. The plot focused on revenge, as a female assassin known as the Bride (Thurman) seeks to kill those involved in the savage attack on her and her wedding party.
"Hateful 8"

Bounty hunter John Ruth and his fugitive captive Daisy Domergue race towards the town of Red Rock, where Ruth will bring Daisy to justice. Along the road, they encounter multiple people. Lost in a blizzard, the bunch seeks refuge at Minnie's Haberdashery. When they arrive they are greeted by unfamiliar faces: Bob, who claims to be taking care of the place while Minnie is gone; Oswaldo Mobray, the hangman of Red Rock; Joe Gage, a cow puncher; and confederate general Sanford Smithers. As the storm overtakes the mountainside, the eight travelers come to learn that they might not make it to Red Rock after all. The film grossed $54,116,191 in the US, and in the opening weekend grossed $4,610,676 on December 25th 2015.
